As the process of reading for all continues to advance,the ability to read independently has become a basic literacy skill that every citizen should possess.The teaching of skimmed texts is an important part of reading teaching in the Ministry of Education's primary language teaching materials.It supports the teaching of close reading texts,provides students with a grasp and practice opportunities to consolidate and apply reading methods,and carries the important mission of improving independent reading skills.Grade three is the beginning stage of teaching skimmed texts in primary school,and the reading habits and basic reading skills it develops lay the foundation for subsequent learning.In the practical teaching,teachers have problems such as unclear understanding of teaching skimmed texts and unreasonable teaching content.Therefore,the study took Z primary school in S city as an example and selected three language teachers of grade three as classroom observation subjects.This study used the LICC paradigm of classroom observation to conduct classroom observations on three dimensions:learning,instruction and curriculum.And this study conducted one-to-one and face-to-face interviews with six language teachers in Grade three on four dimensions: awareness of skimming texts,formulation of teaching objectives,selection of teaching content,and reflections on teaching.The survey revealed the following problems in teachers' teaching: the lack of precision in the objectives of teaching skimmed texts,the lack of overall awareness of teaching contents of skimmed texts,the lack of autonomous atmosphere in teaching skimmed texts,and the lack of encouraging evaluation in teaching skimmed texts.The reasons for the problem are: the teachers' lack of deep understanding of teaching skimming texts,the teachers' teaching behaviors stay the same,the teachers' neglect of students' main role in reading,and the teachers' lack of scientific teaching evaluation.In response,this study proposes corresponding measures for improvement: teachers should strengthen the understanding of teaching skimming texts,teachers should enrich the content of teaching skimming texts,teachers need to create an open and independent environment for teaching skimming texts,and teachers should improve the evaluation of teaching skimming texts.
