Scientific thinking ability is an important part of the core scientific literacy and a basic ability for elementary school students to learn science. In order to understand the status quo of the development of elementary school students' scientific thinking ability and discover the problems, the research selects the investigation of the current situation of the development of elementary school students' scientific thinking ability.Three questions are being solved: what is the status quo of pupils' scientific thinking ability;what are the problems in the development of pupils' scientific thinking ability;and suggestions for effectively cultivating scientific thinking ability in elementary school science teaching. The thesis first combs and analyzes the domestic and foreign scientific thinking related literature, establishes a framework for evaluating the scientific thinking ability of primary school students, and compiles a questionnaire;secondly, uses the questionnaire method and interview method to understand the development status and existing problems of primary school students' scientific thinking ability. The survey found that students' pre-concepts have a greater impact on students' understanding of scientific concepts and making judgments. At the same time,pre-concepts are also an important factor affecting the construction of scientific models;in the questioning and innovation ability assessment, students have some performance in the ability to raise questions.Lack;students are weak in finding problems, coordinating theory and evidence, and specific reasoning skills. In general, the scientific thinking ability of primary school students continues to develop with age,but the development of each aspect is different. The third to fourth grade is the critical age for the development of scientific thinking concepts, questioning and innovation ability;the fifth to sixth grade is the critical period for the development of scientific modeling and scientific demonstration ability.Primary school students also have gender differences in scientific thinking ability. The overall scientific thinking ability of primary school girls is better than that of primary school boys. The specific difference is reflected in the understanding of scientific concepts, while there is no significant difference in questioning and innovation, scientific modeling, and scientific demonstration.difference.Analyzing the survey results, combined with teacher interviews,we found that primary school students have the following problems in the development of scientific thinking ability: pre-concepts interfere with the formation of scientific concepts;primary school students are relatively weak in the use of scientific thinking methods and skills;primary school students' sense of evidence and acquisition and use in scientific thinking The ability of evidence is insufficient;primary school students' scientific thinking ability is insufficient;there is a critical period for the development of primary school students' scientific thinking ability. In view of the problems existing in the development of scientific thinking ability of primary school students, the research puts forward the following suggestions:consolidate the foundation of scientific thinking, promote the deep understanding of scientific concepts, pay attention to the pre-concepts of students, promote the transformation of scientific concepts, and apply scientific concepts to achieve deepening of scientific concepts Purpose: To remove obstacles to scientific thinking and increase the training of thinking skills;to strengthen students' ability to use evidence,to strengthen students' ability to collect, analyze and use evidence by observing experimental phenomena, collecting experimental evidence, analyzing and using evidence, evaluating evidence, etc.;Guide students to reflect and evaluate, from reflection and questioning to innovation;finally, grasp the critical period of the development of scientific thinking ability, and cultivate scientific thinking ability from different aspects according to the characteristics of student development.
