In recent years,the education reform caused by core literacy has become a hot topic in academic research.The promulgations of The Curriculum Standards for Physical Education and Health of Ordinary Senior High Schools(2017 Edition)have made China move towards the core quality-oriented physical education curriculum reform.Therefore,the national policy has put forward clear requirements for improving students’ core physical literacy,which is crucial for promoting students’ physical and mental health and all-round development.As we all know,in order to cultivate students’ core physical literacy,it is necessary to build a team of physical education teachers with high-level core literacy,because the core literacy level of physical education teachers plays an important role in the process of improving and developing students’ core physical literacy.Based on this,it is of great value and significance to understand the current level and characteristics of PE teachers’ core literacy in China for promoting the construction of PE teachers’ team and improving students’ PE core literacy.In order to understand the level and characteristics of Chinese PE teachers’ core literacy in primary and secondary schools,this study adopted the method of literature,questionnaire survey,mathematical statistics,and also used the Scale of Core literacy of PE teachers’ Development.We investigated 302 PE teachers from primary and secondary school in Jangxi province,including eight dimensions from three aspects:core literacy values(teachers’ and students’ view,system view),essential character(character,cultural atmosphere with scientific spirit),key ability,comprehension ability,sports teaching PE curriculum implementation capacity,extracurricular sports executive ability,research and reflection on the learning ability).The result shows that:1.These PE teachers’ whole core literacy level is relatively balanced,compared with the other dimensions,Specifically physical and moral character,extracurricular sports executive ability had higher level than other dimensions.It suggests that the PE teachers from primary and secondary school are being overall development situation,so that their professional skills and the corresponding teaching level is good enough to guide students effectively,and then makes it available to utilize PE for developing students’ physical health and mental health.2.There are significant differences in education background,professional title,monthly income,marriage,and school location variables in the PE teachers’ core literacy development in Ji’an city.Through further analysis,we found that PE teachers with low educational background,or in rural places had lower core literacy level than others,indicating that the higher the level of each variable is,the higher the core literacy level of PE teachers is.3.Future research should focus on as much types of influence factors as we can,and also keep an eye on the crucial and current problems that PE teachers are faced with,so that coming up with certain and concrete solutions for them.What’s more,conducting more research focusing on the PE teachers who are in low degree,low income or rural places,and promoting PE teachers’ education level and salary,in order to lay a solid foundation for improving PE teachers’ core literacy.
