The mind map is a visual thinking tool,which has the advantages of clearing logic,prominent focus,and expanded thinking.The mind map uses keywords,symbols,colors and other elements to build a complete geographic knowledge framework,which can deepen students’ understanding of knowledge,enhance memory and use it rationally.It can also improve students’ comprehensive thinking ability.Junior high school is the stage where students begin to learn geographical knowledge.There are many basic concepts.This determines that the traditional teaching must focus on the teaching of basic knowledge,which may neglect the cultivation of students’ thinking.Comprehensive thinking is one of the four core qualities of geography,Junior high school students are young,and their comprehensive abilities is also developing.Using mind maps for teaching can make the knowledge of the whole lesson and the logical relationships among them clearer,highlight the important and difficult content of this lesson.It is helpful for students to understand the characteristics of the interaction of various elements of geography as a whole,and enhance the comprehensive thinking ability of geography.To study the teaching effect of mind mapping on the cultivation of comprehensive thinking for junior high school students,the questionnaire was conducted on four parallel classes in Grade 7 to understand the students’ geographic basis and their understanding of mind maps.The two most similar classes in the survey results were selected for comparative experiments.Based on the analysis of textbooks and geography curriculum standards,the chapter "The Climate of the World" is selected as the experimental teaching materials.In the experimental class,use mind map to teach,and the control class is traditional teaching,which is mainly based on lectures.At the same time,classroom observations and interview surveys were also used in the experiment process.After the lecture,a test is conducted to examine the students’ basic knowledge,comprehensive analysis,and obtain the students’ test results.In order to further understand the students’ comprehensive thinking situation,the two classes were compared with the comprehensive expression ability,and finally combined with the post-experiment test results,classroom observations and interview results for a summary analysis.The teaching results show that mind maps can better cultivate students’ comprehensive thinking,which is manifested in the following two aspects: Compared with traditional teaching methods,the use of mind map teaching in geography class can increases the interest in learning geography.Students actively participate in the classroom,and their learning efficiency is improved;Geography teaching using mind maps can help students establish connections between knowledge,improve students’ comprehensive thinking ability,and provide methods for the cultivation of geographic core literacy. |
