"Compulsory Education Mathematics Curriculum Standards(2011Edition)"(hereinafter referred to as the "Standard")takes the application consciousness as one of the ten core concepts,emphasizing that students can experience the application value of mathematics through training students' mathematics application consciousness,so as to endue mathematics with real vitality.However,in reality,due to the influence of many factors,students generally focus on the calculation and proof of mathematics,but do not know the wide application of mathematics in reality.Therefore,how to better cultivate the junior high school students' mathematics application consciousness,has become an important task of mathematics education research.Based on constructivism learning theory,Dewey's education theory and metacognition theory,this paper uses literature research method,questionnaire survey method and interview method,taking two regional middle schools in different levels as the object.On the one hand,generally affected by exam-oriented education,teachers need to improve their teaching ability to develop students' mathematics application consciousness.On the other hand,most students remain at a low level of mathematics application awareness,the knowledge of who is still confined to the traditional classroom.In addition,the content of textbooks and teaching ability of schools also need to be further improved to meet the needs of students' development.Questionnaire survey is conducted on teachers and students respectively,and semi-structured interviews are conducted on teachers and students around the contents of the questionnaire,which is an important supplement to the survey results.And according to the reasons of low mathematics application awareness of junior high school students,combined with case analysis,several training strategies are proposed from three aspects of students' learning,teachers' teaching and evaluation system.From the perspective of students,to stimulate their interest in learning through creation and reasonable utilization of problem situations;to enrich their knowledge and experience with mathematics reading and themed class meetings;to adjust their notion by abandoning the theory of “Mathematics Is Useless”.From the perspective of teachers,to change their teaching concept and improve their teaching ability by facing the application of mathematics and broadening their horizons;to help solving the problem through implement of modeling teaching;to enrich students' recognition by holding practices;to built the mathematics experiment platform with the combination of information technology.From the perspective of evaluation system,to enrich the types of examination by modifying the written test;to promote students' application consciousness by establishing diversified evaluation system.
