In the information society, it’s have higher requirements for the collection of information. It’s need to improve students’ reading ability in mathematics to read information with numbers and charts. Mathematics reading is a psychological process different from common reading which is based on the perception and cognition of the text, graphics and mathematical symbols. The readers need to read reference materials to understand, memorize, make the inference and make feedback. To improve the students’ reading ability in mathematics is not only the need of the curriculum reform and the social development, but also the need of the development of the students’ mathematical thinking and self-study capacity.Teaching in mathematics reading ability in the junior high school puts forward higher requirements. It is the key period for students to train mathematics reading ability. The author used interview method, questionnaire and teaching experiment analysis method at different stages. During the research, the author analysis junior middle school students’ reading ability in mathematics and reading disorders and classified as a certain number of problems. Combining the practice and interviews, the author tried to find out the causes of obstacle problems in mathematics reading. Combined with the working practice, the author try to develop effective teaching strategies, and tracked results.It’s found that there’re many factors restricting the development of students’ mathematics reading ability. They are original mathematical ability, mathematics language ability, mathematical thinking and cognitive structure differences, bad reading method and habits, negative psychology and so on. In view of the above problems, this paper proposed targeted measures. It expounded the advantages of using case teaching method to improve the efficiency of reading teaching, lip reading to improve reading comprehension and speed and multi angle analysis of mathematical application problem to improve students’ reading ability in mathematics.During the research, the author combines theory with practice. This paper put forward effective method for improving students’ reading ability in mathematics. Some approaches about the capacity-building of model and application are discussed in the paper, which would have reference for mathematics teachers to carry out their work.
