Classic masterpieces are the crystallisation of culture and wisdom.Reading masterpieces not only increases language literacy and improves comprehension,but also builds a sound personality and refines moral qualities.Therefore,the teaching of guided reading of masterpieces is crucial to junior high school students,and is related to the formation of good reading habits and the improvement of their reading ability.This paper is divided into five parts.The first part discusses the background of the selected topic,the significance of the study,the current situation of domestic research and the research ideas and methods respectively.This study takes the importance of guided reading of famous books in junior high school language as the background of the selected topic,provides a new teaching perspective for teachers to guide reading of famous books,and aims to improve the teaching effectiveness of guided reading of famous books in junior high school language.student-initiated reading and analyzes the significance of student-initiated reading in terms of respecting the objective laws of student development and meeting students’ reading interests.After defining the concept of guided reading in terms of content,teaching methods,participants and cultivation goals,statistics and analysis of the masterpieces selected to be included in the Ministry’s junior high school language textbook are conducted,concluding that the selection of masterpieces has several characteristics of classicism and operability,universality and difference,and orientation,so it is difficult for middle school students to read masterpieces.Therefore,in the process of guided reading of masterpieces,teachers should promote students’ active reading of masterpieces,help students truly realize the significance of reading masterpieces,and realize the teaching value of guided reading lessons of masterpieces.The third part of the study is based on a survey and analysis of the actual teaching situation,which shows that students’ initiative in reading masterpieces is not enough,mainly because teachers and students do not know enough about the importance of active "reading".The fourth section looks at the importance of motivating students to read actively.The fourth section explores three teaching strategies to promote students’ active reading from the perspective of motivating students to read,namely,arranging reading plans to motivate students,confronting students’ reading problems and designing teaching focus,and maintaining students’ interest to build a colourful classroom.The final section concludes this thesis with a summary of the main content and conclusions.It is hoped that the above study will bring some reference value to the field of guided reading teaching and research,as it respects the subjectivity of students and takes into account the leading role of teachers.
