The 2017 edition of "Chinese Curriculum Standards for General High Schools" proposes a learning task group of "reading and discussing the whole book".By reading the whole book,students expand their reading horizons,construct the experience of reading the whole book,form their own reading methods,improve their reading appreciation ability,develop good reading habits,and promote students' understanding of Chinese excellent traditional culture,revolutionary culture and society.In-depth study and thinking of the advanced culture of socialism,to form a correct world outlook,outlook on life and values.Since then,"Whole Book Reading" has officially entered the high school Chinese classroom."The Scholars" is a classic of ancient Chinese novels.Wu Jingzi looks up to one hundred years and depicts the fate of the next generation of scholars in the imperial examination system.He skillfully combines his reflections on the fate of intellectuals over the past century with the storyline,making the work contain huge cultural capacity and social significance.The character and story fragments in "The Scholars" have been selected into several versions of Chinese textbooks for teachers and students to study.The "Chinese Curriculum Standards for General High Schools" promulgated in 2017 listed "The Scholars" as a recommended reading list for students.Therefore,this paper chooses to study the whole book reading teaching of high school Chinese by taking "The Scholars" as an example.This paper uses three research methods: literature research method,historical research method and case study method to carry out research.First,clarify the concept of "whole book",sort out the development process of "whole book reading",define the concept of "whole book reading" studied in this paper,and clarify the meaning of whole book reading teaching.On this basis,this paper analyzes the teaching value of "The Scholars" as a reading list of the whole book in enriching students' literary accumulation and enhancing students' cultural heritage.Finally,with the goal of cultivating and improving the core literacy of students' Chinese,on the basis of a comprehensive analysis of the meaning of reading teaching of the whole book and the teaching value of "The Scholars",a case of reading teaching activities in the whole book of "The Scholars" is designed,hoping to it can provide reference for Chinese teachers when carrying out the teaching activity of whole book reading,so that students can improve their ability to read novels and develop good reading habits while feeling the artistic and cultural charm of "The Scholars".The core literacy of language has been improved as a whole.
