The Ordinary Senior High School Physics Curriculum Standards(2017 Edition)includes "model building" as one of the elements of "scientific thinking",and the development of physics model building skills plays a key role in the cultivation of students' scientific thinking and is an important way to further cultivate and develop the core literacy of physics.It is also an important way to further cultivate and develop core literacies in physics.This paper investigates and analyses the current situation of physics model building skills of junior high school students,and proposes some teaching suggestions based on this research.This paper understands the current situation of research on model building ability of junior high school students at home and abroad through literature research.On this basis,the elements,dimensions and levels of junior high school students' physics model building ability are classified,and the physics model building ability is divided into three dimensions and six elements: "determining the model dimension" including the ability to analyze the situation and the ability to select a model,"applying the model dimension " includes the ability to validate the model and the ability to apply the model,and the "expanding model dimension" includes the ability to evaluate the model and the ability to expand the model,and three levels of each dimension are classified.In this thesis,educational measures were used to investigate the current status of junior high school students' model-building abilities in physics.In addition,the author conducted interviews with teachers on the current state of teaching model building.Through the survey and analysis,the following conclusions can be drawn: junior high school students have a low level of physics model building ability;there is no significant difference in physics modelling ability between junior high school students from different regions;there is no significant difference in physics modelling ability between junior high school students of different genders;students' awareness of the importance of physics models is insufficient;frontline teachers do not attach importance to the teaching of physics model building;frontline teachers focus more on problem solving than on the development of students' core literacy.In response to the problems identified in the survey,this thesis proposes the following teaching suggestions: strengthen the metacognition of physical models and clarify the importance of physical model construction;link physical models with life situations to visualize physical models;strengthen the representation of physical models and improve the accuracy of model construction;emphasize the conditions of application of physical models and develop the ability to transform models into contexts;foster divergent thinking and developing students' core literacies.
