During the Teaching Chinese As a Foreign Language(CFL)practice in Shanghai Wellington College, the teacher found that Yr6 students have poor enthusiasm for Chinese classroom learning, poor discipline and high rate of forgetting what they have learned. The problems of “reading” are mainly manifested as poor recognition ability of basic Chinese words and sentence patterns, which leads to poor understanding of the text and unwillingness to read.In term of speaking ability,“Spoken” sentences are incoherent, key sentence patterns are not smooth, and there are accuracy problems such as incomplete components or word order disorder. The teacher not only need spending lots of time on classroom management, but also on helping recognizing Chinese characters and reviewing basic sentence patterns, which leads to the slow progress of the teaching and the unsatisfactory teaching effect.Through consulting materials, interviews with front-line international Chinese teachers, reflecting on teaching practice and classroom observation of students,it is found that improving learning methods and innovating text learning are the key to solving the above problems.Orff's rhythm-based music teaching method combines the rhythm in music with the internal rhythm of Chinese. On the one hand, the teacher can adapt the text according to the rhythm,on the other hand, around the core elements of music teaching-rhythm,this method gives priority to rap this music form, innovates the form of learning text, vocabulary and language points, which making the text and other elements of the comprehensive course more closely related?Text learning is the link, vocabulary and sentence patterns closely cooperate with each other to achieve the best teaching effect. At the same time,Practical Rhythmic Chinese written by Yin Jinghua and Sun Yiqing makes full use of the characteristics of Chinese rhythm and musicality. It not only helps students to learn, understand and master daily expressions and basic grammar concepts, but also helps to master Chinese tones, which provides reference significance for this paper. After a semester of repeated practice and teaching evaluation,rhythm-based music teaching method has improved elementary Chinese learners' listening, speaking, reading and writing skills to varying degrees, especially speaking and reading. The music teaching method based on rhythm and rap increases the repetition of the target vocabulary and sentence pattern “input”,making students' ears more sensitive and improving their memory and absorption of knowledge. The joint action of musical rhythm and Chinese rhythm can control the specific permutation and combination of morphemes,so as to help students grasp the rule of pause in Chinese natural language flow, perceive the structural characteristics of Chinese sentences, cultivate language sense, and improve students' fluency and accuracy when speaking Chinese. In the process of rapping, students need to memorize key words and sentence patterns, which in fact also exercises their ability to read Chinese characters and helps to further improve their reading comprehension of Chinese texts at the same level. After a semester of practice, the students' problems at the beginning of the semester have been greatly improved, and their enthusiasm in Chinese learning has also been improved to a certain extent.
