The study is a research on teaching practice.According to the current first grade singingtextbooks,the researcher designed threemusic lessons emphasizing on“musical icons-aided instruction”.The researcher taught these music lessons for two parallel classes at the first grade.Two research instruments such as“The Self-evaluation of Music Learning with Musical Icons ”(SMLMI),and“Questionnaire of Attitude on Music Learning with Musical Icons”(QAMLM)were used to collect data.The data were analyzed by SPSS statistical analysis software.The results indicated as follows:1.Students have a better grasp of the musical elements of rhythmand pitch,and have a preliminary concept of this through the study of graphic spectrum.2.Graphic spectrum teaching is more effective than conventional teaching.3.The graphic spectrum teaching optimizes the conventional music teaching.4.The teaching of graphic spectrum is suitable for students without experience.5.Students are interested in reading music and have a strong interest in music classes.6.Students try to draw graphic spectrum and show a good degree of preference.
