The large-unit instructional design is a form of instructional design that complies with the requirements of the new curriculum,emphasizes the core literacy of language subjects,and adapts to the layout characteristics of unified secondary school language materials.This form of instruction is designed to make up for the shortcomings of traditional reading instruction and to change the teaching model that focuses on educating a single reading and overemphasizes a single point of knowledge.Large units of instruction can be based on the unit as a whole,integrate textual content,coordinate unit tasks and authentic activity contexts,and strengthen the connection between language and life,which can improve students' reading levels and develop their core language literacy in all aspects.There is a need to study the teaching of large units in unified secondary schools,both from the perspective of the development of a philosophy of language education and of the need for language teaching practice.Therefore,based on the unified middle school language textbook,this study introduces the concept of large-unit teaching in response to the shortcomings in the current middle school language reading teaching,and discusses the principles and implementation strategies of large-unit teaching in the unified middle school language textbook.This study clarifies the concept of large-unit teaching by compiling and referring to a large amount of literature,interprets the connotation of "large" in large-unit teaching from different perspectives,and further analyzes the difference between large-unit teaching and unit teaching and single reading teaching,so as to better carry out the research on large-unit teaching strategies.This study used a questionnaire survey to investigate the current situation of middle school language reading teaching in the context of the unified middle school language textbook.By summarizing and analyzing the data,the current problems in middle school language reading teaching are summarized from both teachers and students,and based on these problems.Large-unit teaching is introduced into unified middle school language reading teaching.Then,this paper analyzes the necessity of using large-unit teaching in unified junior high school language teaching materials in the current context,discusses the advantages of applying large-unit teaching in junior high school language teaching,and provides theoretical and practical support for the smooth development of large-unit teaching.In Chapter 5,this paper specifically analyzes the principles of large-unit teaching design.Namely,the principles of integration,contextual authenticity,and the student subjectivity,and further proposes strategies for implementing large-unit teaching in the context of the unified middle school language teaching materials.Finally,based on the large-unit teaching design strategies proposed in this study,a complete large-unit teaching design was carried out and the design intention was elaborated based on the relevant strategies and theories in practice,taking Unit 4 of the first book of Grade 8as an example,in order to provide reference for front-line teachers to carry out large-unit teaching.It is hoped that this study can provide a novel idea for the current reading teaching and make up for the deficiencies of current reading teaching.
