Since 1961 Wuhan City Construction College has begun to enroll,the Landscape Architecture of Huazhong University of Science and Technology(LA of HUST),which is Affected by different historical periods,had twice stop and recovered recruit students in sixty years.For the study of their discipline development,the research wisdom in the historical Landscape Architecture teaching pioneers could be find;The development trend of disciplines in different era could be reflected;the cultural traits can be summarized.This topic uses a variety of research methods such as literature research,field survey,and interview investigation,comparing three periods of the development of the LA of HUST,to summarize the teaching work in the context of different historical periods reflected in the development of disciplines.In this paper,through the overview of the development of China’s Landscape Architecture education,identified its important time nodes and compared with the period of Huazhong University of Science and Technology Scenic Landscape.From this,the three important periods had been divided,which is from 1960 to 1964 called startup and exploration period,from 1982 to 1999 called positioning and restarting period and 2000 to the present called adjunction and development period.Then,for the three periods,the background,teaching system and scientific research practices were set up,the teaching ideology and teaching methods embodied in the teaching system were excavated,and the research and practice achievements in various research directions were summarized.And each period was combined with the background of social development,thereby summarizing the features and achievements embodied in different period teaching and scientific research.Through the research of three phases of education,it can be seen that the development of the teaching ideology and teaching methods have been influenced by policy background and technology development.The influence of the Soviet model in the 1960s,the introduction of Western thinking in the 1980s,the innovative teaching model of the development of information technology in the new century,all reflects the discipline of Landscape Architecture and society.The teaching plan and scientific research also showed different characteristics,from the first stage of garden history and urban greening,to the second stage of scenic spots and urban ecology,and then the engineering landscape and scenic planning and ecological restoration,they are all characteristic research directions due to the needs of the times.Finally,the teaching of these three phases can reflect the cultural characteristics of innovation,inclusion,pragmatic and diverse,which remains unchanged in context of different periods,and is also the root cause of future disciplines to continue to branch.In these cultural inherits,there is also a reason to be full of expectations.
