Research On The Design Strategy Of Care Service Space For Community Elderly Full Day Care Facilities In Xi’an City

Population ageing is a growing problem in China,and according to data tracked by the China Ageing Health Impact Factor Tracking Survey(CLHLS),the number of disabled elderly people in China will be 52.71 million in 2020,accounting for 18.3% of the country’s total ageing population,with the number of disabled elderly people remaining high and the growth rate of disabled elderly people also rising significantly.With the continuous improvement of China’s elderly care policy and the emphasis on home and community-based elderly care,the number of community-based full-day care facilities for the elderly is increasing year by year,but the quality and quality of their spaces are mixed,and there are problems with the design of the spaces,resulting in a poor elderly care experience for those staying in them.This is particularly true of care spaces for caregivers and older people in elderly care facilities,where the design of care spaces does not match the needs of older people and caregivers,the quality of the spaces is uncomfortable and the efficiency of caregivers is affected.This paper investigates the care service spaces in community-based day care facilities for the elderly,and investigates both the "space" and "behaviour" aspects of these facilities to analyse and sort out the care behaviours and patterns of care workers and the care service needs of the elderly in these facilities.Three representative community-based day care facilities for the elderly in Xi’an were selected for in-depth research,and data on the classification,status and behavioural activities of the users of the spaces in the facilities were recorded in detail.By comparing and analysing the common needs of care workers and the elderly for the care service space and the current problems of the space.In response to the functional and quality problems of unreasonable spatial planning,intersecting paths and lack of furniture and equipment in the care service space of community elderly full-day care facilities,the design strategy is proposed in terms of functional configuration,location selection and spatial form to provide design reference and guidance for the design of the care service space of community elderly full-day care facilities or other related types of elderly care service facilities.
