This paper explores various application methods of illustration in product packaging design,and analyzes the expressive languages of character illustration used in product packaging,including conveying humanistic sentiments,folk customs,and humanized language expression.Subsequently,based on Maslow’s hierarchy of psychological needs theory,the relationship between human consumption psychology and product packaging character illustration design was explored.It was concluded that character illustration design needs to be designed according to the psychological concerns of consumers of different product types,in order to meet the five levels of consumer psychological needs such as physiological,safety,social,respect,and self value realization.Based on the above theoretical analysis of commodity packaging figure illustration design,this paper uses the way of case study to design and discuss the "Yifei Coffee" commodity packaging figure illustration,from the raw materials of the product,production and consumption process to extract the relevant elements of illustration;The overall style is determined and takes into account the functional,decorative,interesting and psychological needs of consumers at different levels of the product,so as to verify that the packaging illustration of Yifei coffee figures has a certain degree of consumer recognition.The paper and its case analysis have a certain reference value and significance for the packaging design of coffee products.
