A Report On Translation Of Global Economic Prospects

This translation report is an English-Chinese translation report based on Global Economic Prospects.Global Economic Prospects is a report published by the World Bank in June 2022.The report analyzes the problems we face from a macro perspective and points out the risks and prospects of the global economy.The translator uses the computer-assisted translation software Trados Studio and tools such as Deep L to complete this translation project.The World Bank’s report is an economic text with highly specialized language,and is characterized by a clear logic and complex sentence structure.The translation methods of the attributive clauses in the source text are mainly analyzed and discussed by the translator.This report consists of four chapters.Chapter 1 is the task description part,which introduces the content of the translated text,the characteristics of the translated text,the quality requirements,the theoretical basis and the structure of the translation report.Chapter 2 introduces the translation process,firstly,the preparation process,which includes text conversion,creation of project,creation of translation memory and document content analysis.Next is the translation process,which involves pseudo-translation,machine translation post-editing and translation quality assurance process.Finally,there is the post-translation process,which involves two stages of self-revision by the translator and review by supervisor to ensure the quality of the translation.Chapter 3 is the case analysis part and it’s the key part of this report.The translator divides the attributive clauses in this World Bank report into two categories:restrictive attributive clause and non-restrictive attributive clause.The translation methods of restrictive attributive clauses include preposition method,postposition method,fusion method,and conversion method.The preposition method is used to translate a short attributive clause into a prepositional clause,the postposition method is used to translate a complex and lengthy attributive clause into a posterior parallel part,and the fusion method is used to combine the antecedent and the attributive clause.The conversion method is used to translate the main clause and the attributive clause according to their logical relationship and the attributive clause should be converted into the logical corresponding clause.Chapter 4 is the conclusion of this report.This translation practice report provides those who are concerned with the economic field with a more comprehensive understanding of the global economic situation and outlook.However,since this report only summarizes and analyzes the translation of attributive clauses with the cases of the selected translation project,there may be some limitations.Its applicability and representativeness will be better if statistical analysis is conducted based on a large-scale corpus.
