Study On The Curing Two-syllable Responder "Xshi” In Modern Chinese

In modern Chinese,two-syllable responder"Xshi(是)"appears frequently in daily communication.There are abundant combination of the two-syllable responder"Xshi(是)".This paper selects a limited number of characteristic curing"Xshi(是)"in the category of"Xshi(是)"as the object of this study,mainly including the responder"Nashi(那是)""Jiushi(就是)""Yeshi(也是)"and"Zhengshi(正是)".The two-syllable curing responder"Xshi(是)"is different from other twosyllable form"Xshi(是)"in that its form is relatively curing and its meaning is relatively congealed in the long-term usage process,and it has strong subjectivity and inter-subjectivity.The use of"Nashi(那是)""Jiushi(就是)""Yeshi(也是)"and"Zhengshi(正是)"in communicative interaction has long been a concern of the academic community.In this paper,we analyze the usage condition of the two-syllable curing responder"Xshi(是)"in conversational communication from the perspective of interactive linguistics,study its nature,categories and forms of use.And place it in a conversational context to survey its sequence environment and type as well as to analyze its discourse function.The first chapter is the introduction of this paper,it introduces the object and significance of this paper,reviews the current research on the two-syllable curing responder "Xshi(是)",introduces the proposed theory and methodology,and describes the sources of the corpus.The second chapter analyzes the nature and characteristics of the two-syllable curing responder"Xshi(是)",as well as its categories and forms of use.Firstly,the essay defines the two-syllable curing responder"Xshi(是)"and identifies the main members of the two-syllable curing responder"Xshi(是)",namely"Nashi(那是)""Jiushi(就是)""Yeshi(也是)"and"Zhengshi(正是)".And then analyzing the nature and characteristics of the two-syllable curing responder"Xshi(是)",we found that the nature and characteristics of curing respondent"Xshi(是)"are morphosyntactic curing,syntactic independence,situational,subjective and intersubjectivity,non-free position,and rhyme independent.Thirdly,from the perspective of the semantic and expressive focus of two-syllable curing responder"Xshi(是)",we divided it into three categories,namely the affirmative"answer",the affirmative"respond1",and the affirmative"respond2".Finally,we describe the use of the twosyllable cured response"Xshi(是)"in daily conversations.In the third chapter,we analyzes the sequence position and sequence type of the two-syllable curing responder "Xshi(是)" by placing it in the dialogue sequence.Firstly,we examine the sequence environment of the curing responder "Xshi(是)" from both vertical and horizontal perspectives.The sequence environment has a clear tendency to occur mainly in adjacent post-pairs and post-e Xtension sequences,often at the beginning of the responding discourse round or as a separate discourse round.Next,the sequence types of the curing responder "Xshi(是)" are analyzed in terms of the social behavior performed by the initiation,which are mainly classified into information-seeking sequence,evaluation/comment sequence,informing sequence,request sequence,behavior sequence and combination sequences.The fourth chapter focuses on the function of the two-syllable curing responder"Nashi(那是)""Jiushi(就是)""Yeshi(也是)"and"Zhengshi(正是)"in conversational interaction.Attaching great importance to the function of interpersonal interaction and discourse,which is classified as having a response function,a consistent position marking function,and a compliance activation function,in which explains the similarities and differences of the four responder by examining the four two-syllable curing responder"Nashi(那是)""Jiushi(就是)""Yeshi(也是)"and"Zhengshi(正是)"respectively.Secondly,the discourse function of the two-syllable curingresponder"Xshi(是)"is examined from the perspective of discourse articulation,showing that it mainly has the functions of continuation,topic transfer and discourse wheel maintenance.
