For a student of interpreting, working memory for interpreting is extremely important in interpreting practice and training, and it is also a skill that is more difficult to improve. In interpreting memory, students often only obtain specific words and information fragments from the source language and do not have a good grasp of the main information and logical relations of the speaker’s speech in the source language, thus failing to effectively convey the information intention and communicative intention of the source language.Over the years, many experts and scholars have carried out research on this issue, while this thesis considers strategies to cope with this issue from the interpreting dynamic RDA model. The dynamic RDA model of interpreting consists of three components: related listening comprehension, deverbalization memory strategies and English adaptation expression(Lai,2012).In this paper, the author’s own training in consecutive interpreting classes is used as an example to explore how the RDA model can be applied to consecutive interpreting training and how it can help interpreters in terms of working memory for interpreting.Based on the RDA model of interpretation and the theory of mock scenario drill, the author uses the method of exemplar analysis to analyze seven simulated interpretations conducted in the author’s own consecutive interpreting class, classifying the training into two categories: the interpretation that use deverbalization memory and the interpretation without using deverbalization memory, and selecting typical cases to analyze the completeness and efficiency of their working memory of interpretation. It was found that the RDA model’s deverbalization memory strategy was effective in improving the working memory of the interpreters, mainly because:(1)If deverbalization memory was used extensively in the interpretation, the completeness of the interpretation was higher than that of the interpretations with no or little use of deverbalization memory;(2)If deverbalization memory was used extensively in the interpretation, the efficiency of the interpretation was also higher than that of the interpretations with no or little use of deverbalization memory. At the same time, the author finally proposes two strategies to realize deverbalization memory: one is relevance strategy and the other is adaptation strategy. It is hoped that this thesis will expand the theoretical research on the practical path of the dynamic RDA model of interpreting and provide reference for improving the training strategies and skills of interpreting working memory.
