The first session of the First People’s Congress in Shangcheng District,Hangzhou was held on February 14,2022.Haitao Hui,the Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee and Acting District Chief, attended the session and made a government work report. With the gradual globalization of Hangzhou with Chinese characteristics,Shangcheng District, one of the main districts in Hangzhou, should also have a certain cultural output to the world. The government work report of Shangcheng District has become an important window for the whole world to deeply understand Hangzhou and the culture, people’s livelihood, economy conditions and other fields of Shangcheng District. The report of the Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee Haitao Hui not only reviewed the gains and losses of the work in Shangcheng district in the past five years, but also arranged the current tasks according to the status quo,and looked forward to the future. The author conducted a simulated simultaneous interpreting practice on the government work report of the Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee and Acting District Chief Haitao Hui,at the first session of the First People’s Congress of Shangcheng district held on February 14,2022.The theoretical framework used in this paper is the functional equivalence theory proposed by the American linguist Eugene A.Nida in 1969.Based on the author’s practical experience of simulated simultaneous interpreting, combined with the theory of functional equivalence, this paper analyzes the performance of simulated sight translation and simultaneous interpretation of the Hangzhou Shangcheng District 2022 government work report, and proposes possible solutions for the problems. This simulated interpreting practice report is divided into four parts.Chapter one presents the task background and the value of simulated interpreting. The second chapter describes in detail the work of each stage of the simulated simultaneous interpreting task:pre-interpreting preparations,while-interpreting performance and post-interpreting reflections. The third chapter analyzes the typical cases in the author’s simulated interpreting and transcript, combined with the functional equivalence theory, finds the problems and proposes possible solutions. In Chapter four, the author summarizes the gains and reflections of this simulated interpreting practice, and lists future expectations in order to refine the interpreting skills.Although there is a gap between this simulated practice and real interpretation practice, the author also realizes that: the accumulation of daily knowledge is very important;interpretation skills should be properly used to optimize the translation and the audience’s sense of hearing when expressing;do not deliberately pursue the word-for-word equivalence of the target language and the source language and so on.The author hopes to improve the ability of simultaneous interpretation by summarizing the experience of this practice, and provide some reference for other interpretation learners. |
