| The greatest characteristic of the Chinese modal verbs is the complexity of its meaning,which brings great difficulties to the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language.Firstly,this paper defines the connotation,scope,attribute and classification of Chinese modal verbs.Secondly,modal verbs in two Chinese syllabuses and eight Chinese textbooks are analyzed.We found that the number of modal verbs are few in Chinese syllabuses and the lack of enough attention to modal verbs.In the Chinese textbooks,the number of modal verbs is sufficient,there are many modal verbs with different meanings and they are widely distributed in these Chinese textbooks.But there are some problems in the arrangement of the modal verbs.Again,based on HSK dynamic composition corpus,we investigated the situation that the learners who Native-English-Speaking use modal verbs.We found that the learners had some errors in the application of the modal verbs.The number of misunderstanding and missing errors is mostly.Finally,from the three aspects of learners,syllabuses and textbooks,teachers,we put forward some suggestions for the teaching modal verbs of Chinese as a second language,including in the process of learning modal verbs,learners should make clear the key points of modal verbs and adopt correct learning strategies;syllabuses and textbooks writers should pay more attention to modal verbs;teachers should actively guide students to distinguish and summarize auxiliary verbs in the process of teaching.It is hoped that can provide valuable references for the teaching of modal verbs in the process of teaching Chinese as a second language. |
