A Report On E-C Translation Of Financial News Commentaries In 2022 From The Economist

The world economy is still recovering,and most countries face considerable uncertainties in their economic development.In the face of such a severe and complex economic environment,we need to grasp the general trend of world economic development and recognize the challenges and prospects of China’s economic recovery.Financial news commentaries capture the hot topics of finance and economics,covering the macro economy,capital market,social politics and many other areas.It has not only the professional and informative nature of financial news,but also the policy and pertinence of news commentaries,which can help us keep abreast of the latest developments in the international economy and provide a weathervane for China’s economic development.This thesis takes some financial news commentaries in the Economist as translation practice materials,and records the whole process of this translation task from pre-translation,while-translation to post-translation and quality control in detail.From the perspective of communication theory,this thesis focuses on the translation strategies and methods adopted by the author in the process of news commentary translation from 4 aspects:translator,content,media and audience.In order to achieve good communication effect,translators should do as the following: firstly,they should ensure the accuracy of technical terms,and make appropriate supplement to the original content;second,translators should make appropriate translations according to the characteristics of the communication content,such as fuzzy language and rhetorical devices.third,under the background of diversified communication channels,translators should attach importance to news headline translation and make the translation popular for audience.Fourth,translators should fully consider the audience’s reading habits,such as changing the sentence word order and using four-character idioms in translation,so as to enhance the readability of the translation.The author hopes to provide some ideas for the practice of news commentaries translation from the perspective of translation communication theory,and provide certain reference significance for the future interdisciplinary research of news commentaries translation.
