A Report On The Translation Of Financial News Of The Wall Street Journal In 2016

With the deepening of the global economy,international financial news has drawn more and more attention,the translation of which could provide the latest international financial news for Chinese readers.As a major source of financial information,The Wall Street Journal plays an important role in guiding people's economic activity.So,the author chooses the financial news of it from September to November as the translation material.This translation report comprises five parts.The first part is a brief introduction of the translation project,such as the background,content,significance.The second part introduces the theoretical basis —German functional translation theory,especially the Skopos theory of Vermeer.In the third part,the author makes comparisons of the differences in titles,words,and sentence structures between English and Chinese financial news and summarizes applicable translation methods for each aspect.The fourth part is the case study,illustrating the word translation methods and sentence translation methods on the basis of the Three Principles of the Skopos theory(skopos,coherence and fidelity).Finally,the experience and shortcomings in the process of translating are summarized so as to be used for the author's later translation and shared with other translators.
