A Report On Guide Interpreting In Changchun World Sculpture Park

This report is based on a guide interpreting practice of the author in Changchun World Sculpture Park.On November 14^th,2022,the author worked as an interpreter and accompanied a Pakistani student to Changchun World Sculpture Park.After the visit,the author transcribed the record audio into text,reviewed the entire process,probed into the problems throughout the duration of the interpreting in view of the Interpretive Theory.Based on the three steps of Interpretive Theory,namely,comprehension,deverbalization,and reformulation,the author seeks to reexamine the efficiency of the author’s interpretation.Under the guiding principles of the Interpretive Theory,the report attempts to acquire coping strategies on such problems as information loss,misinterpretation,and incoherence that took place during the interpreting.These strategies include amplification,paraphrase,and information reformulation.At last,the report identifies some other problems such as repetition and self-correction and pledged further efforts to improve her interpreting skills.It is hoped that this report may shed light on the study and practice of student interpreters in the future.
