A Practice Report On The Translation Of 8^th Chapter Of The Book Managing The Middle-Income Transition—Challenges Facing The People's Republic Of China

This report is based on an English-to-Chinese translation practice of an informative text.The translation material is the 8th chapter “Crises,exchange rate management,and inequality:lessons from Latin America” in a book Managing the Middle-Income Transition—Challenges Facing the People's Republic of China.The book's initial Chinese version,containing the Chinese appendix in this report,has been published in Nov.2016 by Social Sciences Academic Press(China),which is a promise of quality of Chinese appendix used in this report.This report discusses different translation skills in translating an informative text.It opens a discussion from three different levels,including words,sentences and text translation.It consists of five chapters.The first chapter is an introduction to this translation practice and a brief description of the text type of chapter 8.The following two chapters represent a complete process and preparation works for this translation practice.Then in the 4th chapter,the most essential chapter,the writer from those three levels analyses some translation skills that she has repeatedly adopted in translation of the chapter 8.To demonstrate effectiveness and practicability of these translation skills,the writer provides some representative cases in each part and analyses them with sound reasons.In the last chapter,the writer concludes valuable experience obtained from the translation practice and lessons for being a qualified translator.All in all,through a share of these five chapters,this report may more or less have some reference value for translation of informative text and bring some revelations to future translation workers in translating any type of texts.
