The UN Global Compact 2021 Leaders Summit elevated ambition for strategic collective action, with focused objectives and clear paths to recovery from the continued climate crisis, global pandemic, economic disparities, and social inequalities.Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the meeting was once again held virtually. The annual Summit convenes leaders from business, government, the UN,and civil society,to take stock of the state of progress, highlights the areas for greater influence, and drives collective action on focused issues to make lasting change.Based on Gile’s Effort Model, this report analyzes the problems encountered in listening and analysis,note-taking,and the target language output in simulated consecutive interpreting, using the UN Global Compact 2021 Leaders Summit as the material. The author also puts forward some targeted solutions and introduces how to produce better interpretation by using such translation strategies as augmentation, omission, and inversion. The author recorded the challenges and knowledge gained in this practice, hoping to provide a guidance for interpreters to find the most suitable way to allocate their effort, carry out more targeted training, and make progress in the future interpreting.
