A C-E Translation Report On "Analysis On The Trend And Factors Of Main Diseases In The Qinghai-Tibet Plateau"

In recent years,China has attached much importance to the physical and mental health of the people.Mastering the development and impact trends of major diseases in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau region plays an important role in improving the health level of this region.Therefore,the translation practice of relevant materials in this field has momentous and practical significance.This translation practice focuses on the English translation of the scientific text “Analysis on the Trend and Factors of Main Diseases in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau”.And this report,based on Peter Newmark’s text typology theory,explores the difficulties in the translation practice of scientific texts and discusses the translation methods and techniques adopted to deal with them.The source text,grounded in field visits and experimental data,introduces the status quo,epidemic trends,and influencing factors of infectious and endemic diseases in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau to the public,and finally proposes solutions.According to the text typology theory,this text belongs to an informative text.In the process of translation,the translator not only ensured the facticity and exactitude of the information,but took the readability of the translated text into account.Therefore,the translator used two translation methods,communicative translation and semantic translation,and explored the translation techniques of this text type from both lexical and syntactic levels.At the lexical level,the translator paid attention to the language style and sentential form of the source text,mainly using translation techniques such as part-of-speech conversion,addition,omission,and annotation;At the syntactic level,the translator used some translation techniques such as division,voice conversion,and shifting to achieve smooth sentences.Finally,the problems and shortcomings encountered in translation practice and the knowledge and translation methods that need to be perfected in future work and study are summarized.Through this translation practice,the translator has enhanced her understanding of text typology and how to use communicative translation and semantic translation to direct practice.In addition,this translation practice has also increased the translator’s understanding of the diseases in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau,and it is hoped that this translation practice will provide some reference for text translation in this field.
