The construction history of Qutan Temple in Qinghai is very unique in Tibetan Buddhism.Although it is a Tibetan Buddhist temple in identity, the architectural layout and regulations presented by the construction of the temple are in the Han style, which is a typical representative of the cultural exchange and integration between China and Tibet.Qutan Temple is located in the Hehuang region of the"Han Tibet Golden Bridge",and has historically been a place for many political forces to compete and compete. In the early Ming Dynasty, the Ming court ruled Hehuang, and in order to achieve the goal of "rejecting Mongolia in the north and defending the various sects in the south," it followed the strategy of governing based on customs. In this situation, the Qutan Temple came into being. The Ming court invested huge manpower and material resources to build the Qutan Temple, forming a Tibetan Buddhist temple with a Han style architectural style. In the history of Tibetan Buddhist temple architecture, the construction of Qutan Temple has promoted the sinicization of Tibetan Buddhism. As a royal temple in the Ming Dynasty, the construction history of Qutan Temple can be divided into the initial period(1393-1408 years),the formation period(1408-1427 years),and the stable period(1427-1782 years). It vertically reflects the transitional characteristics of Chinese ancient architecture from the Song and Yuan dynasties to the Ming and Qing dynasties, and horizontally reflects the interactive exchange of Han Tibetan architectural techniques. With the construction of the Qutan Temple,it has played a exemplary role in the architectural art of Hehuang and its surrounding areas, driving the deep integration of the Han and Tibetan ethnic groups, and the Qutan Temple has thus become a model of ethnic integration.
