This is an English-to-Chinese translation report. The source text of this project was selected from the 6th chapter of Questing Excellence in Academia by Knut H.Sorensen and Sharon Traweek.Chapter 6 is a conclusion of the whole book which summarizes and integrates some of the authors’ main arguments and observations about creating sustainable universities. As the source text is an informative one applying lots of compound words and complex sentences with strong logic, the translator adopts functional equivalence as the guiding theory in the translation and tries to achieve it between the source text and target text rather than literal correspondence. The translator, following the translation theory in her translation practice, applies some translation skills such as contextualization, voice conversion, and splitting and reconstruction,to solve the difficulties like polysemy, complicated sentences and passive voice.
