E-C Simultaneous Interpreting Of Business Launch Event From The Multimodal Perspective

The material chosen for this interpretation practice was the online business launch of ASUS on May 11,2021,with the theme "Unleash the Tiger Inside".The technology product launch used a multimodal product presentation to showcase the ROG Zephyrus M16,ROG Zephyrus S17,ROG Slash,Strix Gs-AX5400 z and other products.The launch event featured the Omni virtual character and virtual reality technology.NVIDIA’s vice president and Intel’s vice president were the keynote speakers at the launch event.Launch events have become a popular way for many brands to draw attention to and promote new products in recent years.Brands use a variety of presentations,images,music and new technologies to provide their audiences with a compelling launch experience.Among them,product launches with digital technologies have become the most valuable reference among all kinds of product launches due to their novelty,variety and innovation.Therefore,this material for interpretation practice was chosen for the 2021 ASUS ROG notebook launch,whose diverse presentation means,specialized terminology,and various forms of interactive introduction can help interpreters understand more comprehensively the application of multimodality in interpretation practice.From the perspective of language and vocabulary characteristics,this conference contains many digital technology-related vocabulary and background knowledge,which requires interpreters to understand the relevant vocabulary before the conference fully.At the same time,the interpreter should combine body movements,expressions,animations,pictures,sounds and other modalities to introduce the products of the conference from a multimodal perspective,and use zero translation,omitted translation,general translation,complementary translation,paraphrase translation,and association translation methods.It is hoped that this practice report can help interpreters better understand the multimodal corpus while familiarizing themselves with the launch process and lexical utterances,finding better translation strategies and accumulating experience in the translation practice of multimodal launches.
