"Chinese Culture and Communication",as one of the core courses of the Master of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages(MTSCOL),plays an important role in cultivating students’ comprehensive cultural quality and improving their cultural teaching and interpretation ability.However,due to the short construction time of the major(approved in 2007),the different teacher qualifications and knowledge structure of colleges and universities,there are great differences in the course teaching content of colleges and universities,so further research is needed.Based on the education concept of "student-centered",this paper explores the teaching content of "Chinese Culture and Communication" from the perspective of students.First of all,this paper invited 20 MTCSOL students from 8 universities in China to conduct an interview survey.Through sorting out the interview texts,combined with the text analysis of educational theories and conference reports,the paper preliminatively understood the current teaching content and problems of "Chinese Culture and Communication" in China,and designed a questionnaire based on this.The paper distributed questionnaires to350 MTCSOL students from nearly 60 universities across the country in various ways to enhance the universality and representativeness of the questionnaire objects as much as possible,solicit opinions and suggestions on the teaching content of "Chinese Culture and Communication" course,and use Nvivo and WCI Cloud word frequency statistical software for data analysis.Finally,based on the results of the questionnaire,10 students were selected to conduct a second interview to verify and explore the authenticity and validity of the questionnaire results.The research shows that the teaching content of the course is generally in line with students’ expectations,but there are still some differences in communication skills,teaching practice and the choice of knowledge content.Students generally expect that teachers should consider students’ interest points and increase knowledge dissemination and classroom culture teaching practice in the course content selection process.This paper summarizes and analyzes the course knowledge points that students are interested in,finds out the similarities and differences in the course teaching contents of various universities,analyzes the influencing factors of the differences,and provides references for the subsequent selection and setting of course teaching contents.Finally,based on the questionnaire and interview data and from the perspective of students,the paper puts forward the teaching content system of "Chinese Culture and Communication" as well as suggestions for course teachers and course guidelines.This paper hopes that through the above research,it can provide some reference suggestions for the optimization of the content of MTCSOL professional course "Chinese Culture and Communication".
