In interpretation activities,self-repair is a major cause of the influent output in the target language, while excessive self-repair situations will lead to a poor quality of the output. The existing studies on self-repairs in interpretation activities have been focusing mainly on Chinese-English language combination, and Chinese-Spanish combination has been studied in very limited occasions. Therefore, this paper investigates and analyses specific situations of self-repair in actual Chinese-Spanish consecutive interpretation, trying to define its main causes and to propose possible solutions. The paper is based on a case study made on the mock conference of the “2020 Bund Summit”,with the author’s participation in the ChineseSpanish consecutive interpreting work. The results of the analysis show that the major causes of the self-repair situations appeared in the interpretation include lack of background knowledge, poor note-taking and limited second language abilities.Considering these three aspects, the paper proposes respective solutions to help solving the self-repair problems and improving interpretation skills in future practices.
