This translation practice report takes the first chapter of Processing Principle and Technology of Food Protein Base Material by Dr.Xu Wei as the translation material,which mainly introduces the separation,purification and structure analysis of proteins.Nowadays,China’s food processing has steadily risen to prominence on the global scene.The translation of the most recent researches on food protein base materials from China will be helpful in advancing global food technology development.The translation practice report mainly includes five parts: The first part is the introduction,which mainly introduces the background of the selected translation materials,the purpose and significance of the topic and the structure of the report;The second part will describe the task process,including pre-translation preparation,while-translation and post-translation proofreading;The third chapter is the theoretical framework,which will briefly introduce Newmark’s text typology and its applicability;The fourth chapter is the case study,guided by the text typology,which analyzes the practical examples in translation practice from lexical,syntactic and textual levels;The last chapter is the conclusion,which makes a brief summary of the author’s major findings in this translation practice,as well as its limitations.This translation practice report shows the difficulties the author faced when translating food-related informative texts.Under the guidance of the text typology,the report discusses and summarizes the solutions from lexical,syntactic and discourse levels,and offers a source of reference and inspiration for those engaged in food-related text translation.The author comes to the conclusion that the text typology can be well applied in food-related informative text,which can be concretely reflected in three levels.At the lexical level,translators need to ensure the accuracy of the words in the target text through terminology processing,semantic addition and conversion,and accurate selection of synonyms.At the syntactic level,translators need to realize the objectivity of information transmission through the conversion of voice,the nominalization structure and objectification of the subject.At the textual level,translators need to ensure the logical fluency of the target text through explicitation of logical relations and conversion of logical relations. |
