An Analysis On The Formation Mechanism Of Current Chinese Internet Populism

Since its emergence in Russia,the United States and other countries in the 19th century,the practice of populism has wandered around the world like a "ghost" and has never disappeared in history.In the process of modernization development,modern nation-states will almost inevitably encounter the "ghost" of populism,and its performance is particularly prominent during the period of social transformation,and my country is no exception.In the 21st century,with the rapid and large-scale popularization of the Internet,cyberspace has increasingly become an important field for people to exchange information and express opinions due to its concealment,directness,and convenience.It magnifies the voice of individuals,especially ordinary individuals,to an unprecedented scale,breaks the monopoly of political elites and official media on the voice of the past,and greatly encourages the public’s enthusiasm for political participation.The current wave of Internet populism in China has deep ideological and social roots,and is also affected by the psychological foundation of the public and the empowerment of Internet technology.Various factors violently intersect,and finally bloom the flower of online populism.In short,the Internet provides space and tools for the public to participate in politics,thereby combining populism with the Internet to form a unique online populism.Based on the existing research results of scholars,this paper organizes and analyzes the current Internet populism phenomenon,and believes that the emergence of hot Internet incidents is the fuse of Internet populism,and the emergence,development and disappearance of Internet populism are one thing.The process of being continuously constructed in the game of power between all parties.Through a large number of cases,it can be found that the discourse construction of online populism has formed a set of modular procedures.Whenever a hot online incident suddenly breaks out,the cyberspace first manifests itself as a large crowd of netizens,and netizens with the same identity will gathering and integration furtherly,under the leadership of opinion leaders,through selective filtering and processing of key information to construct the issue of the event,and put the parties into a dualistic identity pattern for discussion.Through archetype narrative strategies,Internet populists use heroic narratives,revenge narratives,tragic narratives and other methods to process and transform original events into stories to make them conform to the populist discourse logic.After the topic is constructed,if you want to gain a relative advantage over the other party or fulfill your own demands,cyber populism needs to further realize the monopoly of public opinion in cyberspace,so as to create a "turbulent public opinion" effect,and this requires an impact on cyberspace.And their usual strategies include discourse preemption,human flesh search,joking,and rumor construction.Through these means,cyber populism has realized the "silence of dissent",thus realizing its own demands.In a positive sense,online populism embodies attention to socially disadvantaged groups,can effectively curb the anomie behaviors of social elites,and objectively promotes citizens’ political participation.However,its negative impact cannot be ignored either.It has the characteristics of irrationality and extremeness,which can easily lead to"tyranny of the majority",causing potential conflicts between different classes and groups,and tearing apart society.Therefore,at the end of the article,the author also proposed a number of practical countermeasures to regulate and eliminate Internet populism as a point of thinking about integrating theory with practice.
