| National image plays an important role in the overall strategy of a country.As one of the fascist countries during World War II,it’s a crucial strategic choice for Japan to reconstructing its national image after the war for its return to the international community and expansion of its international influence.Southeast Asia is one of the regions where Japan committed its war crime mostly,and the post-war international situation and ideological conflicts have made Southeast Asia the main area for Japan to change its national image and develop its national "soft power".Due to the demand for raw materials for Japan’s domestic economic development and the need for overseas strategic security and interest protection,Southeast Asia it has always been an important fulcrum of Japan’s post-war national strategy.Since the end of World War II,with the development of Japan,Southeast Asian countries and the changing of the international situation,the construction of Japan’s national image in Southeast Asia has roughly gone through three stages: post-war diplomatic preparation based on economic reparations and assistance,multi-faceted construction based on economic diplomacy under domestic economic development,and multi-faceted expansion and strengthening of national image construction under the goal of being a political power.Through the strategic means of domestic development,political engagement,economic interactions,military cooperation,and cultural diplomacy,Japan has built an overall good national image in Southeast Asia and formed an effective support for its overall national strategy. |
