Environmental problems are exacerbating with urbanization, and building a better living environment has become the demand of the people. As a micro-governance unit, the community is not only the basic field of residents’ lives, but also the aggregation end of environmental problems.Urban communities are the entry point and important field of environmental governance, and also the basic unit of residents’ lives. The extensive participation of residents in environmental governance in urban communities is not only a response to the protection of democratic rights and environmental rights and interests, but also an important force for the modernization of environmental governance.Due to the "publicity" embodied in the community environment as a public good, residents will have "free rider" behavior in participating in community environmental governance, and the participation enthusiasm is not high and the degree of participation is low.Exploring ways to solve these problems plays an important role in promoting community development and realizing the modernization of community governance. This thesis uses literature analysis, questionnaire survey, statistical analysis and interview.Through the analysis of endogenous and exogenous factors affecting residents’ participation, this thesis puts forward a hypothesis: emotional identity has a positive effect on residents’ participation in community environmental governance.Community satisfaction has a positive effect on residents’ participation in community environmental governance.Neighborhood relations have a positive effect on residents’ participation in community environmental governance. The institutional environment has a positive effect on residents’ participation in community environmental governance.Participation channels have a positive effect on residents’ participation in community environmental governance.Taking Gulou District as the questionnaire distribution object, the collected data was analyzed using SPSS and AMOS software, and the analysis results verified that the above hypothesis was valid. The data results show that the residents’ participation in community environmental governance in Gulou District of Xuzhou City has a low sense of community identity, imperfect system and narrow participation channels, and based on this, countermeasures and suggestions for improving residents’ participation in urban community environmental governance are proposed: enhance residents’ sense of community identity by enhancing residents’ interaction, improving community service level and improving infrastructure.Provide institutional guarantees for residents’ participation by improving the democratic participation system and the incentive and supervision system;Through the construction of a smart network platform, the channels for residents’ participation are unblocked. This theisi conducts research from both internal and external dimensions, which is conducive to understanding the reasons for the insufficient participation of residents, and proposes strategies to eliminate residents’ weak participation,in order to provide valuable reference for other urban residents to participate in community environmental governance.
