The purpose of the Confucius Institute is to enhance the understanding of the Chinese language and culture of the people of the world and promote the development of multiculturalism in the world.As an excellent traditional Chinese culture,Wushu is promoted in Confucius Institutes.However,in the dissemination of martial arts at this stage,there is a disconnection between technical learning and cultural learning,resulting in students lacking understanding and recognition of martial arts culture and failing to achieve the effect of cultural dissemination.This article mainly uses literature method,teaching experiment method,questionnaire survey method,mathematical statistics method and other research methods to enter from the perspective of cultural communication.First,it draws on the successful experience of Confucius Institute martial arts teaching,and draws on the inadequacy of Confucius Institute martial arts teaching for the dissemination of martial arts culture.Lessons learned,based on the American SPEM curriculum concept,design a martial arts curriculum suitable for the spread of martial arts culture in the Confucius Institute.Secondly,20 students from the Confucius Institute at Portland State University were selected as the experimental group to participate in the martial arts curriculum under the SPEM concept,and 20 students were selected As a control group,he participated in the teaching experiment of conventional martial arts class.The experiment period was 30 class hours.The effect of martial arts curriculum on the spread of martial arts culture under the SPEM concept was verified through comparative analysis.Designed a set of martial arts courses that use SPEM curriculum concepts to guide,integrate martial arts culture and martial arts skills,and use constructivist 5E teaching mode to promote martial arts while spreading martial arts culture at the Confucius Institute;after experiments,the experimental group students The degree of mastery of martial arts cultural knowledge increased significantly after the experiment,and was significantly higher than the control group,which proved that the martial arts curriculum under the SPEM curriculum concept of martial arts culture combined with martial arts skills has played a positive role in the experimental group students’ cognition of martial arts culture.It has achieved the effect of spreading martial arts culture.He also pointed out that in the future,we should attach importance to the teaching of martial arts culture knowledge,give full play to the educating role of martial arts,integrate martial arts culture into the practice of martial arts communication in Confucius Institutes;optimize teaching methods,try different teaching models,enrich the teaching structure,and stimulate students’ enthusiasm for learning;Continue to dig deeper into the connotation of the SPEM curriculum and create suggestions for creating martial arts teaching materials suitable for spreading Chinese culture in Confucius Institutes.
