Safety is the basic guarantee for the growth,learning and development of primary school students.Only by ensuring life safety of primary school students can we cultivate pillars for the country.In recent years,with the continuous development of society,risk factors are increasing,especially in the town,urban fringe and other special areas where traffic accidents occur frequently for primaruy school students,and migrant children in town and urban fringe areas are the high risk group of victims.Therefore,reducing the occurrence of traffic accidents of migrant children and protecting them from harm is an urgent problem to be solved by the state and society.In view of the above problems,the author took advantage of the opportunity of the internship project of Children’s Dream Space provided by Yulin Youth Social Workers Association to carry out traffic safety education for migrant children in middle and primary schools in the community of Jinjitan Town.Through interviews,questionnaires and other methods,this study investigates the hidden dangers of trraffic safety and the practical needs of migrant children in Y primary school.Under the guidance of cognitive behavior theory and empowerment theory,this study uses the professional knowledge and skills of group work to carry out traffic safety education activities to help primary students master traffic safety knowledge,improve traffic safety awareness,learn self-protection skills in respond to traffic safety so as to reduce the occurrence of traffic accidents.The results show that group work has strong feasibility in improving migrant children’s traffic safety awareness.After a series of group activities,migrant children can effectively detect the hidden dangers of common traffic accidents and prevent tragedies;Migrant children’s ability to deal with traffic emergencies has been significantly enhanced;The results also show that the safety awareness level of migrant children’s guardians has also been greatly improved,and the important role of parents in children’s life safety is clarified;At the same time,the school where the group members work also pays more attention to their role in cultivating migrant children’s response ability to traffic accidents.Group work changes the way in which teachers traditionally deliver traffic safety knowledge orally or in books,and adopts the forms of scenario simulation,games and other ways loved by migrant children to carry out traffic safety education,which really gives full play to schools to perform its educational function.Through the research,the author is more confident to continue the work of providing traffic safety education for migrant children as a grass-roots service worker.
