| As education levels in our country improve, middle school students are receiving better education. However, academic apathy persists widely among this group.A study aimed to explore the applicability of narrative therapy in addressing academic apathy among middle school students.By helping them relieve negative emotions and transform their learning attitudes,it sought to alleviate academic apathy for those struggling. The study was divided into two parts: investigating the causes of academic apathy and exploring how to solve the problem through narrative therapy.Following the basic steps of narrative therapy, the study explored the existing narratives of service recipients, including mainstream narratives around them and their own self-narratives.It then helped them recognize the mainstream narratives suppressing them, deconstructing existing narratives, externalizing problems, finding unique outcomes, and revealing ways in which these led to negative self-evaluations.Finally,the study assisted recipients in rewriting their own new stories.Under these new narratives, students recognized their ability to make efforts in studies, had changed learning attitudes that extended to learning beyond classrooms, and saw a significant decrease in academic apathy. The study found that narrative therapy can awaken motivation for self-change and inspire potential to resist the suppression of mainstream narratives, thereby alleviating academic apathy.Helping students overcome constraints of mainstream narratives is key to solving the problem.Narrative therapy can change learning attitudes, reduce academic apathy, and improve motivation to learn. |
