| As the size of the digital economy has grown and its share of the GDP has increased,it has become the main grasp to promote the highquality development of the region and transform the competitive environment.The Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region,which is the region’s economic center in northern China,plays a crucial role in driving the growth of the country’s digital economy.According to the data from Beijing Municipal Bureau of Statistics,the scale of digital economy in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region has exceeded 4 trillion yuan in 2021,accounting for about one-tenth of the total national digital economy.The development of digital economy has achieved remarkable results.The digital economy’s growth in the region has created new employment opportunities and patterns,but it has also made it harder to find jobs in non-skill-intensive and labor-intensive industries.This structural employment conflict needs to be addressed as it poses a significant challenge for the region’s workforce.Employment is the cornerstone of social stability and the primary source of livelihood.With the highquality development of the area,the growth of employment size and the enhancement of employment quality can reinforce one another and create a positive cycle.To promote high-level employment and foster a virtuous cycle of the digital economy in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region,it is crucial to understand how the development of the digital economy impacts employment structure.This research aims to analyze the progress of the digital economy development and employment skill distribution in the Beijing-TianjinHebei region.Based on existing literature,it analyzes the current situation of digital economy development and employment structure in this region,summarizes the advantages and bottlenecks of regional digital economy development,as well as the trend of changes in employment structure.Based on data analysis,an empirical model is constructed by constructing an index of regional digital economy development,with the index from 2011 to 2020 serving as the explanatory variable and the employment skill structure data of publicly traded firms serving as the explanatory variable.According the model estimation,it is found that the growth of the digital economy in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region will promote the optimization and upgrading of regional employment structure,specifically by restraining the employment of low-skilled labor force and promoting the employment of medium-skilled and high-skilled labor force.The intermediary impact of regional innovation level is developed in the process of regional digital economic growth driving the transformation of employment structure to a high degree.Based on the research findings,three suggestions have been made:to encourage the efficient and coordinated growth of the local digital economy;to improve employment security and train and attract more talented people;and to raise the rate at which regional innovation is developed.The innovation of this article lies in taking the growth of regional digital economy as the research object,referring to the Core Industries Classification for the Digital Economy(2021)and current literature research,establishing evaluation indicators for the development level of digital economy in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region,and implementing the study on employment structure at the enterprise level.From the perspective of labor skills,it uses a combination of normative analysis and empirical analysis to study the impact of digital economy development in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region on employment structure and its path,and suggests workable solutions. |
