A Group Work Study On Cognitive Behavioral Therapy To Enhance The Parental Ability Of Retired Soldiers

The protection of military families can not only solve the worries of soldiers "rear care",but also enhance the combat effectiveness and cohesion of the army.With the country’s emphasis on safeguarding the rights and interests of military personnel,the issue of safeguarding the rights and interests of retired military families has also received attention and support from various departments of the country and society.In the early stage of research relying on the Veterans Affairs Bureau,it was found that due to the militarized management ideas brought about by past military service experiences,parents of retired soldiers are more likely to adopt irrational communication methods when interacting with their children,resulting in parental issues.On the basis of reviewing relevant literature on social work and parental education for retired soldiers,the author combined questionnaire and interview methods to understand the parental issues and current situation of retired soldiers,and summarized the needs for improving parental competence of retired soldiers.This research adopts the qualitative research method to carry out group work intervention research on six ex servicemen with homogeneous parenting problems,so as to improve their parenting ability.The author divides parental competence into four aspects:parental concept mastery ability,emotional management ability,parent-child communication ability,and emotional connection ability.Based on cognitive behavior theory,the author aims to improve parental competence of retired soldiers from two main aspects:cognitive reshaping and behavioral modification.Using the "Parental Rearing Efficacy Scale" to measure and analyze the group members before and after the implementation of group activities,and combining the focus group interview method,the results of this study were evaluated.Based on the evaluation and analysis of the research effectiveness,summarize the research shortcomings and suggestions.It is found that operationalizing cognitive behavioral therapy in group social work can effectively promote the improvement of parents’ parenting ability.Through the effectiveness evaluation of the practical process,it shows that theoretical guidance is feasible,group work methods have achieved certain results,continuous practice is required to consolidate results,and social workers’ own ability needs to be improved.However,the problem of parenting ability of parents of retired servicemen is caused by the bad interaction of many factors,so many social forces not only protect and pay attention to the family rights and interests of military personnel after retirement,but also cooperate with the military.Providing family social work services to military personnel during their preparation for retirement is more conducive to the improvement of retired soldiers’ ability to work in parenthood.
