Class teachers are the people who have the most contact with students in primary education,and their words and deeds have a great influence on students,and they play an important role in basic education.As a new force in the team of class teachers,primary school novice class teachers not only determine the future direction of class teachers’ professional quality,but also promote the sustainable development of the school in the future,so it is of great development significance to attach importance to and improve the professional ability of primary school novice class teachers.This paper investigates the current situation of professional competence and improvement strategies of primary school novice class teachers.Through the collection and collation of existing literature,the author defines the concepts of primary school class teachers and primary school novice class teachers,extracts the commonalities based on the "Regulations on the Work of Primary and Secondary School Class Teachers" promulgated by the Ministry of Education in2009 and the Regulations on the Management of Class Teachers in H City Primary School,and further consults 24 front-line expert class teachers from all over the country,defines the core concept of this paper-class teacher professional ability,and divides it into four dimensions,namely: class organization and management ability,class culture construction ability,Students’ ideological education ability,coordination and communication ability.According to the results of expert consultation,a questionnaire on the status quo of professional ability of primary school novice class teachers was compiled,and the novice class teachers of all public primary schools in the 6 districts(counties)of H City were taken as the research object,and through the descriptive,differentiated,and correlation analysis and demonstration of the data surveyed,it was found that the professional ability of primary school novice class teachers was generally at a medium level and there was a lot of room for improvement.The author further conducted in-depth interviews with some novice class teachers,senior class teachers,school administrators and heads of relevant government departments,deeply excavated the problems existing in the professional ability of novice class teachers in primary schools,and analyzed the reasons from the three levels of government departments,schools and individuals.In view of the reasons at three levels,this study proposes corresponding countermeasures:first,give full play to the leading role of government administrative departments,namely: clarify the selection indicators of class teachers,improve the hierarchical evaluation indicators of class teachers,and optimize the evaluation indicators of class teachers;The second is to strengthen the effectiveness of the implementation of school management functions,namely: implementing the class teacher training system,building a platform for class teacher exchange and growth,establishing a diversified evaluation mechanism for class teachers,and building a home-school cooperation mechanism;The third is to improve the personal professional quality of class teachers,that is,improve personal career development awareness,establish correct professional values and concepts,and enrich the professional ability reserve of class teachers.
