In the 21 st century,when information technology is developing at a rapid pace,the level of development of information technology in education is a reflection of a country’s comprehensive national power,and thus improving people’s information quality has become an important part of China’s information technology construction.As a compulsory course at the basic education level,the teaching of information technology shoulders the important task of cultivating information technology talents.Therefore,innovative teaching methods should be used in the teaching of information technology courses in order to enhance students’ information literacy and comprehensive ability.STEAM education is an interdisciplinary and comprehensive approach to education,and design-based learning is a way of learning that uses design thinking throughout the entire process,with its emphasis on contextuality,collaboration and innovation.The characteristics of STEAM education and design-based learning are similar to the concept of STEAM education,and the combination of STEAM education and design-based learning provides a new way of thinking for exploring the junior high school information technology curriculum.Firstly,this study uses the literature research method to sort out the current research results on STEAM education,design-based learning and the combination of STEAM education and design-based learning at home and abroad,and to collate the relevant theoretical foundations to provide a theoretical basis for the construction of a teaching process based on STEAM-based design-based learning.Secondly,this article analyses the feasibility of design-based learning with STEAM education and the viability of applying the teaching process of STEAM-based design-based learning to information technology curriculum.Based on the relevant theoretical foundations and the inspiration gained from the analysis of typical models of design-based learning,the paper then preliminarily constructs a teaching process for STEAM-based design-based learning,which includes three parts:teacher activities,student activities and teaching goals,and provides teaching guidance in the teaching practice process with the help of scaffolded teaching.Lastly,the author adopts an action research approach to develop three rounds of instructional practice,using the Photoshop course in the second grade seven information technology curriculum of secondary school L in M as an example.Through the analysis of various data such as students’ work evaluation scales,teacher-student interviews and questionnaires,it was verified that the teaching process implementation of STEAM-based design-based learning is effectively implemented in the junior high school information technology curriculum teaching.At the same time,the implementation of STEAM-based design-based learning teaching practices not only effectively enhanced students’ design thinking ability,problem-solving ability and collaboration ability,but also effectively improved the creativity and artistry of students’ design work and enhanced their innovation ability.
