Research On Case Work Intervention In Community Home Care For Urban Semi-disabled Elderly

In recent years,as the degree of aging population becomes more serious,our country is facing severe test of elderly care.It has become a common concern of the society that how to properly place the elderly group,improve the quality of life of the elderly and reduce the stress of elderly care.At present,the elderly care models adopted in our country are mainly family elderly care and institutional elderly care.Although these two models are widely used in our country,they both have certain shortcomings.As an important place for the elderly in their old age,the community is gradually gaining attention for its elderly care function,and the community home care model is becoming a breakthrough in solving the elderly care problem in our country.The intervention of social work in community home care service has natural advantages,which can effectively improve the high-quality development of community home care service by using professional theories and methods.However,compared with other elderly groups,the semi-disabled elderly are often in a more vulnerable position in the process of elderly care due to their varying degrees of impairment in physical functioning.Therefore,we should pay great attention to the semi-disabled elderly and solve their elderly care problems,so as to bring warmth and hope in their old age.This topic comes from the author’s research on the community service activity of "Talk to Me",which was followed up by the author during my internship in Jinan.In the early stage,through a large number of visits and household surveys,the author comprehensively used the literature research method,interview method and participatory observation method to collect data,combined with Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory,social support theory and ecosystem theory to understand the basic situation of L community and the current situation of home care.It is found that the semi-disabled elderly people in the community still have problems such as low level of daily care services,difficulty in going out,lack of emotional support,insufficient supply of medical and health conditions and difficult social integration.Further analysis shows that the home care service system in the L community is not yet perfect.The actual needs of the semi-disabled elderly can not be met,which is embodied in four aspects: daily care services,spiritual solace,medical and health care and social participation.Therefore,the author decided to take this opportunity to carry out a case work study with the semi-disabled elderly S as an example.The intervention was carried out in four stages,namely,the first stage: solving the problem of care and companionship so as to meet material and spiritual needs.The second stage: linking community medical resources to guarantee life,health and safety.The third stage: strengthening the relationship between relatives and handle disputes over inheritance.The fourth stage: strengthening social support networks and accelerating integration into community life.By linking and integrating community resources for elderly S,this paper strengthens the relationship between the community and elderly S,helping elderly S to get out of the old age dilemma and enhancing her sense of well-being in the old age.In the closing stage,the author summarized the case work,which fully acknowledges the achievements of the practice study and reflects on the problems that existed in the practical process.Firstly,the lack of attention to the psychological problems of the semi-disabled elderly makes them produce serious negative emotions;secondly,social workers lack the ability to provide high-level elderly care services and the level of elderly care services is limited;thirdly,the community home care protection system for the semi-disabled elderly is inadequate and the cost of elderly care is high.In view of the relevant problems,the author puts forward reasonable solutions.Firstly,pay high attention to the psychological problems of semi disabled elderly people and enhance their confidence in facing life difficulties.Secondly,strengthen the construction of social work personnel for the elderly and enhance the professional level of elderly services.Thirdly,introduce policies on elderly services and optimize the community home care service system.This paper involves the research of the problem of urban semi-disabled elderly community home care through case work,which can effectively remedy the shortcomings in the current community care process and provide new ideas for solving the relevant elderly care problems in the future,as well as enriching the practice of community home care in our country and providing reference significance for the improvement of the community home care service system in our country.
