Since the unified edition of history textbooks put into use and promote,the Ministry of Education is also putting more emphasis on teachers’ limited use of textbooks.History textbook is the most common form of the history teaching material and the most convenient source of learning materials that teachers and students can access.As the Ministry of Education calls for the return of textbooks and the full use of textbooks,more and more studies are being conducted on the newly published textbooks.In terms of content structure,the unified junior middle school history textbook can be divided into text system and text auxiliary system.Text system refers to the part of the text which is used to introduce the main content of the text.It uses time,events and characters as clues,and is mostly told in chronological order.The text auxiliary system can be regarded as the supplement and expansion of the main line.The important characters,events and research trends mentioned in the text are listed in the form of words,pictures and tables,which are closely related to the text.Historical figures are important factors that must be involved in history teaching.They include important figures who have a great influence on the course of history,workers who work in groups,and fictional figures made up by teachers in order to explain a particular detail.The main line teaching of historical figures has always been one of the research emphases in history teaching.Each character in the textbook has an important entry point for teaching activities.Therefore,it is an important step of teaching optimization to conduct relevant research on textbooks and sort out and study the existing character clues.The auxiliary system of the unified junior high school history textbook is divided into several columns,such as "pre-class guidance","related historical events","material reading","character scanning","knowledge development","after-class activities" and "problem thinking".In addition,there are related illustrations and tables,each assuming different roles.The author will extract the columns which mainly focus on character clues,summarize them,analyze their characteristics,and give suggestions and strategies for the teaching application of relevant content based on case analysis.The character clues in the textbook auxiliary system are mainly in the form of the introduction of the character’s life,the introduction of the character’s key story and the character’s picture.Its main function is to expand and supplement the text system and serve for the text system.The author makes an induction through the form of a table,and illustrates how these characters as the main line of clues can be applied to teaching activities.Based on the above research and combined with the questionnaire survey,this paper further discusses the degree and way that character clues are used by teachers and students in history teaching.Combined with the actual teaching cases,this paper explores the feasibility of using character clues as the main line in teaching.
