At present,we strongly advocate the development of vocational education and a series of relevant documents and policies to strengthen the reform of vocational education."Room Service and Management" is the core course of tourism service major in secondary vocational schools.It is highly practical and mainly oriented to the employment of frontline service positions at the grass-roots level of hotels.However,at present,there are some problems in the teaching of this course in secondary vocational schools,such as students’ low professional awareness,low class participation and simple teaching methods.The new curriculum reform requires teachers to change the way of teaching and training so that students can get all-round development.As a modern teaching method,the situation teaching method is a better way to achieve the goal of the new curriculum standard.Therefore,based on the current research status and combined with the author’s teaching practice,this study preliminarily discusses the application of situational teaching method in the teaching practice of "Room Service and Management" in secondary vocational schools,hoping to provide some references for the teaching practice of "Room Service and Management" in secondary vocational schools.Vocational education occupies a pivotal position in our education cause.It is an important show to strengthen innovation and reform of teaching methods in professional core curriculum for overall improvement of education quality.Based on the theories of constructivism,situational cognition and multiple intelligences,and based on the methods of situational teaching method,questionnaire survey and interview,this paper investigates and analyzes the teaching and learning status of teachers and students of "Room Service and Management" course,taking the core hotel course "Room Service and Management" as the research theme.It is found that there are four problems,namely students’ low interest in learning,unbalance of teacher-student relationship,insufficient classroom practice and single teaching method,and discusses the feasibility of combining situational teaching method with "Room Service and Management".According to the eight intelligences of multiple intelligences theory,eight situations for students’ intelligence are created,and the teaching design is carried out according to the knowledge construction process of constructivism theory.On this basis,the author carried out A 3-month teaching practice in two classes of Grade two in the hotel direction of tourism service and management major of A secondary vocational school.The experimental class and the control class were used for teaching,and the experimental effect was tested,which preliminarily proved that the situational teaching method can effectively improve students’ learning interest and professional ability.And put forward the shortcomings and improvement suggestions in the process of situational teaching method.This study mainly draws the following conclusions:(1)Situational teaching can stimulate students’ interest in learning and improve their learning enthusiasm.A series of problems such as students’ negative learning attitude,unbalanced classroom relationship and poor classroom teaching effect have been improved by carrying out situational teaching method in the course of Room Service and Management.(2)Situational teaching method can improve the teaching effect of students.The results of the experimental class improved significantly after the situation teaching.(3)Situational teaching method can improve students’ comprehensive vocational ability.After the application of situational teaching method in the course of Room Service and Management,students’ oral expression ability,problem solving ability and practical operation ability are improved.
