Revolutionary culture is the sum of all the material culture and spiritual wealth that the Chinese Communists have accumulated and nurtured during their long revolutionary practice.Revolutionary culture education points out the right direction for elementary school students’ ideology,morality and values,and cultivates socialist builders and successors of the new era for the realization of the great rejuvenation of the nation.The Language Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2022 Edition)states that there are clear themes of revolutionary culture in the curriculum content,and it requires that the relevant learning contents of various themes be arranged in an integrated manner according to the characteristics of different school levels.Language textbooks are important carriers for students to establish correct values and realize moral education and inherit revolutionary culture,and the content of revolutionary culture runs through all systems of textbooks.How to better understand,comprehend and implement the organization,carrier forms and spiritual values embedded in the content of revolutionary culture in textbooks is a concern of front-line educators and teachers.Using the content analysis method,a framework for analyzing revolutionary culture categories and revolutionary culture content carriers in the unified version of elementary school language textbooks was constructed to analyze the overall distribution of revolutionary culture content,the carrier forms of revolutionary culture content and the distribution of revolutionary culture categories in textbooks,and through the analysis it was found that.First,the textbook revolutionary culture content is sufficient in quantity,combining centralized and decentralized distribution,and there are internal logical connections within the revolutionary culture units.A total of 76 items in the three systems contain revolutionary culture,accounting for 4.50% of all units analyzed.1-3 grades are distributed decentralized,4-6 grades are distributed centrally in the form of units,and there are common themes and language practice activities among the revolutionary culture texts in the revolutionary culture units.Secondly,the content carrier form of revolutionary culture in textbooks implements the requirements in the Language Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2022 Edition).The reading aid system and practice system further supplement the revolutionary culture content of the text system through the form of matter,material and language practice activities;the form of revolutionary culture carriers of each system is appropriate to its own characteristics.So the carrier forms of revolutionary culture content among the systems complement and balance each other.Thirdly,the distribution of revolutionary culture content in each system and grade level is comprehensive,and the distribution of each category and sub-category is uneven in number.Among the six categories of revolutionary culture,"patriotic sentiment" has the highest number of distribution,while "ideal and belief" has the lowest number of distribution,and the distribution of the six categories in each school section of textbooks,"ideal and belief" and "selflessness and devotion"have the highest number of distribution.The distribution of the six categories in each textbook section,"ideal beliefs","selfless dedication" and "hard struggle" are gradually increasing,while "patriotism","hard struggle" and"hard work" are gradually increasing.hard work" and "bravery" showed a "√"distribution pattern.Among the sub-categories,"courageous and fearless" has the most distribution,while "simple and optimistic attitude toward life" is relatively less.Based on the findings of the study,the following suggestions were made: to follow up the new era in content;to increase the symbols of revolutionary culture;to balance the distribution of categories;to strengthen the connection between units and school sections.As well as teachers’ pedagogical suggestions such as teachers’ precise design of objectives;supplementing extra-curricular teaching resources and organizing learning task clusters with in-class resources;supplementing relevant category contents according to the learning situation;following and making full use of revolutionary culture content carrier forms and diversified teaching designs.
