Study On The Home-school Communication In Urban Junior Middle Schools

Home-school communication helps home school cooperation to better promote the development of students(children).It is important to study the current situation of home-school communication,identify the problems and analyze the factors of home-school communication,and propose countermeasures to improve home-school communication,which can provide a reference for further improving home-school communication and enhancing the level of home-school communication.A survey of344 parents and 116 teachers in two urban middle schools in T city found that the communication attitude,communication content and communication effectiveness of urban middle schools’ home-school communication were generally at a good level,and the communication style and frequency were at an average level.Parents are more passive in home-school communication,and teachers are more active in participation.Parents often choose to participate in home-school communication through online one-to-one communication,public We-Chat platforms and school newsletters,while teachers often use online one-to-one communication,one-to-one communication and telephone communication.Parents and teachers were more comprehensive in their home-school communication.Most parents and teachers affirmed the effectiveness of home-school communication and were more satisfied with it.The main participants at home are firstly mothers and secondly fathers,and the main participants at school are firstly classroom teachers and secondly weak subject teachers.Parents have a more positive attitude toward home-school communication.Teachers basically have good communication literacy.Teachers believe that the factors affecting home-school communication are their own work tasks,parents’ busy schedules,and parents’ reluctance,while parents believe that the factors affecting home-school communication are their children’s school performance and school performance,their own energy and time,their habitual obedience to teachers’ management,teachers’ higher level of professional management,and different educational concepts.The problems of home-school communication are: low participation of fathers in home-school communication,passive participation in home-school communication,low frequency of home-school communication,and low one-to-one home-school communication on the part of parents;single type of teachers involved in communication and low satisfaction of home-school communication on the part of teachers;low frequency of home-school communication activities and single type of home-school communication activities on the part of schools.Countermeasures to improve home-school communication include: from the parents,guiding fathers to participate in home-school communication,motivating parents to participate in home-school communication,changing the mindset to actively participate in home-school communication,and confidently and consciously carry out home-school communication;from the teachers,multiple types of teachers collaborate to participate in home-school communication,and standardizing the system to guide teachers to participate in home-school communication;in the school,implementing the main responsibility of the school,innovating the form of home-school communication,and motivating teachers to participate in In terms of schools,the implementation of the main responsibility of schools,innovative forms of home-school communication,incentives for teachers to participate in home-school communication.
