Whole book reading in primary school is an important part of Chinese reading learning.In the autumn of 2019,the unified edition of Chinese textbooks officially used reduced the number of individual readings,and added columns such as "Reading with adults" and "Happy Reading Bar",aiming to recommend excellent books to students and encourage them to read whole books.The newly issued "Compulsory Education Curriculum Plan 2022 Edition" includes "whole book reading" as one of the expanded learning task groups,clarifies the learning content and teaching suggestions for each stage,and further clarifies the content of the whole book reading as a "expanded" and "exploration level" Chinese curriculum,which has irreplaceable significance in developing and implementing the core Chinese literacy and improving the comprehensive quality of primary school students.As a new curriculum task,reading the entire book is both a key point and a difficult point for most front-line teachers.At present,the teaching of Chinese whole book reading in primary schools is at the exploratory stage,and the teaching effect of whole book reading is not ideal.This requires front-line teachers to actively explore new teaching methods to promote teaching effectiveness.The task driven teaching method meets the requirements of "learning task groups",adapts to the layout of teaching materials,and conforms to the psychological characteristics of primary school students.Therefore,This research tries to apply task-driven teaching method to the teaching of Reading in primary school,and carries out practical exploration.The paper specifically includes the following eight parts:The first part is an introduction,which explains the origin and significance of the research.Through consulting a large number of documents to complete the definition of core concepts,we can understand the current research status of the whole book reading teaching of primary school Chinese and the task driven teaching method,and then determine the research issues,namely,what are the similarities between the task driven teaching method and the whole book reading teaching of primary school Chinese? What are the advantages of using task driven teaching methods in the teaching of Chinese whole book reading in primary schools? What are the specific steps of application? Can its application in front-line teaching improve students’ reading habits and effectiveness of the entire book? Subsequently,it seeks a theoretical basis for the application of task-driven teaching methods in the entire book reading of primary school Chinese,and clarifies the research ideas and methods.The second part is the basic meaning of task driven teaching method.This section proceeds from the connotation,characteristics,and basic links of task driven teaching methods to deepen the understanding of task driven teaching methods.Only with a clear understanding of the task driven teaching method can it be better applied to the teaching practice of whole book reading in primary school Chinese.The third part is an analysis of the application.This part will explore theoretically the fit between the two,elaborate the necessity and feasibility of the application,and explore the philosophy and principles of the application,teachers should pay attention to measurability and quantification,students’ progress and development,and teaching effectiveness,and should follow the principles of operability and task dependency,fun and contextual authenticity,the principles of task closure and openness,and the principles of task comprehensiveness and diversity.The fourth part is the process of applying task-driven teaching method in whole book reading teaching in elementary school language.There is a complete process for applying the task-driven teaching method for whole-book reading instruction in elementary school languages,which specifically includes the identification and planning of tasks before class,the implementation and sharing of tasks during class,and the evaluation and reflection of tasks after class.This part is supplemented by a case study of whole-book reading instruction of The Scarecrow implemented by the researcher for illustration.The fifth part is the suggestions for the application of task-driven teaching method in whole-book reading teaching in elementary school language.Based on teaching practices and reflections,this study proposes application suggestions for the reference of front-line language teachers.The sixth part is the concluding remarks.The researcher conducts a summary of the study,reflecting on the shortcomings and future prospects.
