The 2022 version of the new curriculum standard was promulgated,which plays a programmatic role in the teaching of physical education and health courses.Under the background of the implementation of the new curriculum standard,this study uses the literature method,expert interview method,questionnaire survey method,logical analysis method and other methods to compare and analyze the new and old course standards,investigate the teaching implementation of physical education and health courses in Puyang junior high school,and examine the shortcomings in the implementation of the new curriculum standards from four aspects: curriculum objectives,course content,teaching methods and teaching evaluation,and put forward optimization suggestions,so as to provide help for the implementation of the new curriculum standards of Puyang junior high schools.The study yielded the following results:(1)Compared with the 2011 version of the course standard,the new curriculum standard proposes to develop students’ core literacy as the main purpose in terms of curriculum nature;In terms of curriculum philosophy,it emphasizes the construction of a more complete curriculum system focusing on core literacy;In terms of curriculum objectives,it focuses on core competencies and refines the expression of level objectives;In terms of course content,interdisciplinary theme learning has been added;In terms of learning evaluation,the academic quality based on core competencies is proposed.(2)Teachers’ attention to the objectives of physical education courses needs to be improved;Some teachers differ from the new curriculum standard in the choice of curriculum concept;87.7% of teachers take physical education as the main teaching content,and there is "test-oriented education";The teaching content of health education,physical fitness and interdisciplinary theme learning lacks diversity and comprehensiveness,and lacks the development of traditional Chinese sports;18.3% of teachers did not teach large units;Fewer teachers use physical virtue and healthy behavior as indicators of teaching evaluation;There are still some teachers who believe that the venue equipment cannot meet the current teaching needs;Some teachers said that school leaders did not pay much attention to physical education;43.6% of the students said that physical education classes did not reach 3 hours in the past week;22.2% of students indicated that physical education classes were occupied.(3)The basic situation of teachers meets the teaching needs;Male teachers mastered more sports than female teachers(P<0.01),and the proportion of teachers who mastered2 or more sports was relatively high,and the number of teachers in urban schools mastered more sports than that of teachers in township and county schools(P<0.05),but the mastery of sports was more concentrated;teachers had a general understanding of the new curriculum standards;17.8% of teachers believed that their implementation of the new curriculum standards was not in place;68.9% of teachers also do non-teaching work.(4)90.1% of students said they liked physical education classes;29.5% of the students did not master sports skills,among which the number of sports mastered by the ninth grade students was higher than that of the eighth and seventh grades(P<0.01);the core literacy of physical education and health was at the middle level,and the boys were higher than the girls(P<0.01),among which the physical character dimension reached a good level,and the scores of the boys’ sports ability dimension and health behavior dimension were higher than those of girls(P<0.01).(5)According to the new curriculum standards,the physical education and health course teaching of Puyang Junior High School was reviewed and found that the course content was not comprehensive;lack of large-unit instructional design;Less use of modern information technology teaching methods;The evaluation indicators are still mainly based on students’ sports performance.In view of the problems existing in the implementation of the new curriculum standard,suggestions are put forward for the optimization of the teaching of physical education and health courses in Puyang junior high school:(1)improve the teaching team and enhance teachers’ awareness of the new curriculum standard;(2)Create a number of interdisciplinary thematic learning teaching content;(3)Improve the teaching design of large units around the core competencies of physical education and health;(4)Develop teaching evaluation content around core competencies.
