The language assignment is an indispensable and important part of language education in secondary schools.Language homework is an indispensable means to help students to understand,reinforce and apply what they have learned in class.It can also help students to identify and compose their words,read and appreciate,express and communicate,and sort out and investigate,and improve their language quality,which plays a very critical part in their language learning.Yet,for a long time,middle school language teaching still has problems such as poorly focused and less effective assignment design.Based on this,in July 2021,the General Office of the CPC Central Committee and the General Office of the State Council issued the Opinions on Further Reducing the Burden of Students’ Assignments and Off-Campus Training in Compulsory Education("Double Reduction"),which requires that the total amount of students’ homework be suppressed and the overall design of the homework be enhanced.Thus,in the first line of teaching,how effective is the "Double Reduction" policy? In this article,200 middle school students and 50 high school language teachers were polled to investigate and evaluate the implementation of the "double reduction" policy for high school language assignments and to enhance it.This paper mainly includes five chapters :Chapter 1 introduction: It primarily explains the context and the significance of the selected dissertation topic,and gives a brief description of the current research status and research methods at home and abroad.Chapter 2: The concept of "homework" and "homework design" are described in this article,and the theories of teaching effectiveness,multiple intelligence,and Tao Xingchi’s life education theory are quoted in this project as conceptual support.Chapter 3:The author takes 200 junior middle school students and 50 junior middle school Chinese teachers in Luolong District and Luanchuan County of Luoyang City as the survey objects,launches a questionnaire survey,counts the survey data,and analyzes the survey results.Therefore,it can be seen that after the ’double reduction ’,the attention of front-line teachers in homework design has increased,and they have also shown their willingness to change the current situation of homework design,and the amount of homework has also decreased,but they still face four major problems : First,some junior high school Chinese teachers ’ concepts lag behind,and their enthusiasm for learning new teaching concepts is not high;2.Lack of design work content,arbitrary;the operation form is single and boring,and the traditional operation arrangement form is still the mainstream;4.Teacher evaluation lacks incentive and guiding language.Chapter 4: In the setting of " Double Reduction" and under the guidance of "Language Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2022 Edition)",a scheme of the optimization of secondary school language homework design is given to cope with the current problems in the design of secondary school language homework.I.Clear principles of homework assignment design;II.Refinement of homework program indicators;III.Making the homework design more abundant;IV.The optimization of homework scheme;V.Improving homework examination methods.Chapter 5 : According to the homework design scheme in Chapter 4,the homework design is carried out with the second unit ’ Kong Yiji ’ in Grade 9 as a case.
